A "Discovery Call" is the first call or meeting we share. In this call, we determine if we're a good fit together, It gives me a chance to see if I can help you, and it gives you a chance to see if you like my coaching style.
Life Coaching and therapy both support people through change, but they do it in very different ways.
Therapy heals by looking into a person's past, and addressing what happened there. Life Coaching looks at a person's present, helping them move into a desired future. Coaching is a collaborative process that focuses on forward movement, goals, and skill-building.
Coaching is also:
Action-Oriented: identifying values, goals, and next steps
Strength-Based: Determining and amplifying what's already working
Present-to-Future Focused: I help you figure out where you are now, where you want to be, and how to get there
Non-Clinical: Although I am aware of what mental health disorders look like, I do not diagnose or treat them
Empowering: I help my clients build their own agency, resilience, and self-trust
Life Coaching helps you move forward. It's a collaborative, future-focused process which supports clarity and alignment. Together we determine the best practical steps you can take towards the life you want to build.
Therapy helps you heal your past. It's a clinical process led by licensed professionals that diagnose and treat mental health conditions. They work with trauma at a depth coaching does not.
Coaching is not a replacement for therapy. Coaching is for people who are ready to grow, make changes, and build new, more effective patterns in their lives.
The short answer is that my energy is limited.
I prefer focus on my clients in one-on-one or group settings. This takes a lot of energy, and what's left isn't enough to run Social Media very well.
A lot of good things have come from the use of AI.
But it is not, and never can be a replacement for the human connection at the heart of my work. The magic I have to offer the world lies in the one-to-one connection of humans.
Yes, you can get some pretty good answers from AI, and you might not even have to pay for them directly. But they will not be the intuitive answers I channel to serve you. AI is essentially a collection of all the media humans have created up to this point. Therefore, answers provided by AI are rooted in the observations, creations, and patterns of the past.
AI can be a powerful support tool. But it's not suited for life coaching. Effective coaching depends on attunement — the real, moment-to-moment relationship and presence that responds to a client's own personal pacing, nervous system, and lived experience.
AI is great for some things. But it can't feel the subtle shifts in breath, tone, and energy that tells me when a client is feeling overwhelmed, like dissociating, or on the edge of an insight. Coaching is an art — a relational, embodied art. AI can simulate a conversation, even a really good one. But it cannot co-regulate. And co-regulation is often a quiet engine of transformation.
There's also the matter of scope and discernment. A human coach can sense when a client is drifting into unsafe territory that belongs in therapy. AI cannot reliably make that distinction, and cannot hold responsibility for safety. Without that awareness of boundaries, an AI can easily reinforce harmful patterns, miss red flags, or offer guidance that sounds good, but isn't grounded in the client's actual capacities. AI is great at noticing patterns in data, but coaching requires ethical judgment, intuition, and the ability to pause, slow down, or even refer out. These abilities emerge from human experience, not pattern prediction.
Lastly, coaching is fundamentally about the relationship. It's about trust, resonance, and the felt sense of being witnessed by another human being. People don't change because they hear the perfect sentence from somewhere in the ether. They change because someone is walking with them, attuned to their pace, their values, and their unfolding.
AI can help with structure, language, and clarity. But it cannot replace the relational field that makes human-to-human coaching transformative.
